The Stanford Palo Alto Community Playfields

Project Location:  Palo Alto, CA

Client:  Stanford Management Co.

Description:

The project site size is six acre bordered by busy El Camino Real and Page Mill Road in Palo Alto, California.

The design provides two regulation soccer fields as well as a practice field and has the flexibility to accommodate other field sports as needed. A Service Building and ample parking opportunities are provided as well.

The plan called for the preservation and transplant of several Heritage Oak Trees on the site as well as the preservation of some smaller trees around the perimeter. Trees are planted around the perimeter of the playfields to provide shade for spectators, create windbreaks and control the movement of balls. The lawn areas surrounding the site are slightly mounded to further help contain balls.

This project won an award for Site Design and Storm Water Treatment by the Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program.
