Originally built in 1921, extensive renovation work was undertaken on the Stanford Stadium in 2005/2006. Completed in less then a year the renovation work reduced the stadiums size and brought it up to date with present standards for sporting events.

The new stadium retains the architectural character of the original stadium by retaining the earthen berm. The existing landscape, consisting of mostly mature trees was supplemented with native redwoods and oak trees.

Stanford Stadium is the home of the Stanford Cardinals football team.
