The 20.5 acre site is situated at the Oakland / San Leandro City limit line and bordered by International Boulevard and Durant Avenue. Historic Durant Square was first developed by Durant Motor Company in 1921. First Durant and later General Motors built automobiles here until 1963.

The 225 units at Durant Village, the residential part of the site, consists of a mix of townhouses, flats and court homes many with views of the nearby sweeping hills. Landscape design includes lushly planted paths connecting the units to amenity spaces and adjacent uses.

The retail portion of the site includes rehabilitated warehouse and retail spaces, adjacent outdoor plazas that incorporate new and existing palm trees into the design.
